Under a bilateral agreement, Iranian nationals can enter Georgia visa-free for up to 45 days. Since 1 January 2026 all foreign visitors must hold health and accident insurance covering at least GEL 30,000 for the whole stay, and it may be checked at the border. Iranians also face a relatively high rate of refusal at the border, so having your documents ready matters.

Refusal at the border
Georgian border officers can refuse entry without a detailed explanation, and in recent years Iranians have been refused more than many other nationalities. Complete documents, a clear purpose and a regular travel history improve your chances, but there is no guarantee.
Overstaying
- Since September 2025 penalties are heavier: about GEL 1,000 to 3,000 depending on the length, plus an entry ban of up to 3 years.
- A database of foreigners who were present unlawfully has operated since October 2025.
