Iranian and mixed couples can register an official marriage at a municipal marriage office (Evlendirme Dairesi) in Türkiye. The key document for Iranians is a celibacy certificate from the Iranian consulate in Istanbul. Because Iran is not party to the Apostille Convention, Iranian documents must go through consular legalisation.

Documents required

• A celibacy certificate or permission to marry (with photo) from your consulate
• Birth certificate with a certified Turkish translation
