Applying for a Greek visa from Iran, Türkiye or Georgia: where and how?

You apply for a Greek national visa (type D, for financial independence, digital nomad, work, study and family) at the Greek embassy or consulate in your country of nationality or legal residence. For the golden visa, the residence application is usually filed in Greece itself, and you can enter on a short-stay visa.

From Iran

• Since February 2025, visa applications for the Greek embassy in Tehran were taken through the VAC Global centre.
• In March 2026, during the war, the Greek embassy in Tehran temporarily relocated to Baku. Its return and the resumption of visa intake in Tehran have not yet been announced; ask us about the current status before you act.
• In this situation, applying from a country of legal residence (Türkiye or Georgia, for example) is often more practical.

From Türkiye

• Greece has an embassy in Ankara and Consulates General in Istanbul, Izmir and Edirne, each with its own consular district.
• National visas are usually filed by direct appointment at the consulate; short-stay Schengen visas go through Kosmos Vize.
• Iranians living in Türkiye with a valid residence permit can apply at the consulate for their district. Imperial's Istanbul office prepares the file.

From Georgia

• Greece has an embassy in Tbilisi; national visas are filed at its consular section, with appointments booked through the VFS centre in Tbilisi.
• Iranians living in Georgia with a valid residence permit can use the same route. Imperial's Tbilisi law office supports you along the way.

1. Prepare foreign documents with certified translations and an apostille or embassy legalisation.
2. Arrange private health insurance valid in Greece and accommodation before the appointment.
